When something comes so naturally; doesn't it start to feel like a part of you? That's how I feel about art. Art is simple to me, yet many people think it is something beyond their reach. I want to bring art to everyone; which starts with our children.
In our "Emperor's New Clothes" Age of art, it is an elite taste that is "lost" on the everyday man. It is ridiculous that so many people are shut out from a form of expression that has been around since the dawn of humanity. Wouldn't the world be better if art included everyone? There is no entry fee to art and that's what I want to share with my life.
I am an artist who creates to teach. My purpose is to intrigue viewers through discovering the connection between media and portraiture. It should inspire contemplation on their own personal traits and the way in which they wished to be portrayed. With a future in teaching, my goal is to be capable in any medium. There is nothing more discouraging to a student than feeling as though a teacher is not willing to learn and imporve to help you. My students are a priority and spur me to make myself a better artist.
Currently, I am a senior at Converse University working toward a Bachelors in Art Education with a minor in Art History. My plan after college is to use this degree to become a middle school art teacher. I have a passion for teaching and inspiring creativity in others; that is serving as my guiding force in life. One day I look forward to helping students find their lifelong passions.
My work has been displayed in duo-show in the Ridge Gallery of Spartanburg, SC. Additionally, I have won Mayo "Mac" Boggs Award for Best In Sculpture at Converse's Annual Juried Art Show in Spring of 2023 and 2025 and the Andrew Blanchard Award for Best in Printmaking at the same show in 2025 . My work has also been featured in The Purposeful Mayo Journal.
