Sara Elizabeth Gressette is a mixed media artist cementing her style in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She has recently received her Bachelor of Arts in Art Education with a minor in Art History. Since becoming a certified teacher, she is looking to spread her love for art to the next generation of artists.
Gressette is using her passions in her current body of work by exploring herself and her family, portraying their insecurities through unique media. She focuses on creating maximalist mixed media sculptures that repurpose everyday objects to reveal their lesser-said connotations and hidden emotional weight. These works were shown in her most recent solo show Inherited Weight in Winter 2025
Gressette's work has been exhibited at Spartanburg’s Ridge Gallery with in a dual exhibtion with her fellow Converse Alum Donald Medly in 2024. Her publication list is growing starting with a feature in The Hand Magazine in Winter 2025. Gressette has also been honored with the Mayo “Mac” Boggs Award for Best in Sculpture at Converse’s Annual Juried Art Show in 2023 and 2025 as well as the Andrew Blanchard Award for Best in Printmaking at the same 2025 show.
Looking forward, she aims to balance her career as an educator with her ongoing explorations to create work that inspires both personal reflection and shared dialogue.
